The Zanskar valley is situated across the Suru Valley and over the Pensi La in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir. Zanskar is situated 235 km away from Kargil.
The lovely landscapes and the Buddhist culture of the Zanskar Valley are sure to leave a mark. Zanskar literally means the Copper Star. In fact the various rivers flowing into Zanskar carry copper sediments. The spectacular Himalayan landscape and the lifestyles of the inhabitants attract many tourists to the hidden kingdom of Zanskar.

General Information :

Best time to visit : Owing to the altitudes, the Zanskar valley is accessible only during the summer months. The winter months are too harsh for travel in Zanskar. June - September is the best time for this trip.

Suggested Itinerary :

Srinagar - Sonmarg :
Arrival at Srinagar Airport. Pick up and transfer to Sonmarg.
Rest of the day is free for leisure.
Overnight stay at Sonmarg.
Sonmarg – Zojila – Drass - Kargil :
Today, you will be transferred to Kargil via Zojila and Drass.
Enroute, visit Kargil War Memorial near Drass. Overnight stay at Kargil.
Kargil - Suru Valley - Rangdum :
Today, you will drive to Rangdum via Suru valley.
Enjoy the spectacular landscape of Suru Valley, with the massive Nun Kun peaks welcoming you into Zanskar.
Visit Rangdum monastery.
Overnight stay in a deluxe camp at Rangdum.
Rangdum – Padum :
Drive to Padum, crossing the Penjila pass.
You can spot the Long-tail Marmot on the way; they are endemic to this area.
Witness the life of the people in Zaskar in summer.
Overnight stay at Hotel.
Padum - Zangla – Stongday - Padum :
Today, you will be transferred to Zangla.
Visit the nunnery, lower palace, upper palace, Stongday Gompa.
You will get an amazing view of the Stongday village and the surrounding valley from the Gompa.
You can also visit Bardan gompa and Muney gompa.
Overnight stay at Padum.
Padum – Kargil :
Drive back to Kargil and stay overnight.
Kargil - Dha Hanu Aryan Village :
Drive to Dha Hanu.
On the way, stop at Mulbek to visit the stone curved Maitryea Buddha statue at Mulbek.
Dha and Hanu villages are the last stronghold of pure Aryan blooded ethnic people who came from Macedonia via Persia in ancient times. They are strongly preserved by the Law of India.
Overnight stay in a homestay at Dha Hanu.
 
Dha Hanu - Leh :
Drive to Leh. On the way visit Lamayuri monastery, one of the oldest and biggest monastery in Ladakh.
The monastery has some of the oldest frescos in the region. Landscape of the area is also famous for its moon like features.
Further drive to Leh via Sham Valley, Magnetic Hill and Gurudwara Patthar Sahib.
Overnight stay at Leh.
Leh Airport drop :
Today, you will be transferred to Leh Airport as your tour comes to an end!
