Garumara, Samsing, Paren, Jaldapara, Buxa
Day 01 : NJP- Gorumara
Arrive NJP Railway Station/ Bagdogra Airport.
You will be picked up by your driver who has in depth knowledge about the area you are going to travel in. You will be transferred to Gorumara National Park.
Gorumara, a comparatively small National Park located on the foothills of Eastern Himalaya play a very important role in terms of protecting local ecology. The park is spread over the flood plains of River Murti and Raidak and primarily famous for its population of Indian one horned Rhinoceros. Not only the Rhinos, the park hosts a healthy number of Asiatic Elephants, Indian Bison (Gaur), Leopard, different species of Deer, Python and Macaques along with some 200 species of birds.
If time permits, go for optional afternoon Jungle Safari in any Zone of Gorumara.Overnight stay at Batabari.
Day 02 :Gorumara – Samsing - Paren
Early morning go for optional Jungle Safari in any Zone of Gorumara.
Later you are going for the excursion to Samsing-Suntalekhola area.
Samsing, a small village sandwiched between Lash Green Meteli Tea Estate in the south and Neora Valley National Park in the north has gained its reputation among travellers seeking peace and tranquility. Suntalekhola, 2 km away from Samsing named after the stream of same name is where road ends. Enjoy the serenity of the place. Also visit Rocky Island near Samsing. All the places are lesser-known lower hill-stations and offer an unimaginable landscape and peace – the true essence of Dooars.
Later you will be transferred to Paren. The roads goes through the wilderness of Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary and after travelling some distance it starts to windup to lower hills of Himalaya. You will find River Jaldhaka cascading down from Bhutan Hills and after crossing the small settlement of Jhallong you will reach your destination Paren. Surrounded by thick wooded forest of pine and conifer tree is a hidden abode for nature lovers in Dooars. During winters the area became more colourful as its famous for it’s Orange Orchards.Overnight stay at Paren.
Day 03 :Paren – Jaldapara
Morning visit to Bindu, the road ends here just before famous Hydel project on Jaldhaka River which also works as a crossing point to Bhutan. Here River works as International border with Bhutan. One can walk down to Bhutan crossing the Barrage.
Further transfer to Jaldapara National Park.Jaldapara comprises of vast grassland with patches of riverine forests is located in Alipurduar District of northern West Bengal on the banks of Torsa River and spread across 216.51 sq. km. Other than famous Great Indian One Horned rhinos, Jaldapara is also home to Asiatic wild elephants, swamp deers, hog deers, wild Boar, Gaur etc. Some rare species like the hispid hare and the hog-badger are also found here. Overnight stay at Jaldapara.
Day 04 :Jaldapara - Buxa
You will wake up with the chirping of birds; get ready quickly and go for optional Jungle Safari / Elephant Ride in Jaldapara WLS. Post safari back to your hotel. Check out and you will be transferred to Buxa.
BuxaTiger Reserve is located at the north eastern corner of West Bengal bordering Bhutan and Assam. It is declared a National Park in January 1992. The name "Buxa" has been derived from Buxa Fort - a fort, which once was used for detainees during freedom movement of India. With an area of 759 sq km this picturesque reserve with its prodigious Terai, Bhabar as well as Hilly landscape, crisscrossed by numerous rivers and their tributaries, presents a breath-taking landscape.
Afternoon visit to Jayanti.Tucked in the lap of Bhutan Hills along the meandering river at the periphery of Buxa Tiger Reserve is a forest village called Jayanti. Located on the bank of Jayantiriver this small settlement once established for mining of minerals. Backdrop of surreal misty blue hills along with vast stretch of Jayanti River make the landscape heavenly for any sensitive soul. Overnight stay at Buxa.
Day 05 :Buxa – New Alipurduar Railway Station
Morning visit to Buxa fort and visit the small museum out there. Road passes through small villages and you can see the Dooars plains from here. After confronting the painful history of our freedom movement, drive back to your hotel.
Post lunch transfer to New AlipurduarRailway Station. Tour ends.
