Bera Leopard Photography Tour | 3N 4D

General info: Bera is a small village in the Pali district of Rajasthan, which is home to a good number of Leopards. It is situated near the Jawai Dam and the Leopards occupy the caves in the surrounding hills and hillocks which are extensions of the mighty Aravallis. Bera is an excellent example of human wildlife coexistence. There is hardly any conflict between the locals and the wildlife which is built on the ground of religious belief. The local tribe, namely Rewadi, are mostly shepherds and the livestock acts as the main prey base of the Leopards. Whenever a sheep or goat his hunted down by a Leopard, the villagers perceive this as a blessing of Matarani and Government compensation is also provided. This practice has created a history of more than a century where conflict has gone down to a great extent, which in turn has made the Leopard sighting quite common in this area, elsewhere much rare due to their shy nature.

  • Bera also harbours a whole lot of other mammals like Stripped Hyena, Rusty spotted Cat, Blue Bull, Chinkara etc. Jawai dam, a picturesque location and its surrounding areas is home to a good variety of birds like Rock bush Quail, Indian Eagle Owl, Graceful Prinia, European Roller, Yellow eyed Babbler, Lesser Whitethroat, Common Babbler, Grey necked Bunting, Indian Peafowl, Greater Flamingoes and many more. Jawai Dam hosts a good population of Marsh Crocodiles.

  • Bera also provides a great opportunity to the landscape photographs due to its magical landscape and on some days one can experience a mesmerizing sunset in the backdrop of Aravallis. The hotels and resorts are placed within this landscape which itself is a unique experience. During our stay at Bera, we will have 5 jeep safaris and some short birding walks to photograph the Leopards, other wildlife and landscape.
